A study conducted by DuckDuckGo discovered that more people will prefer Google alternatives if they have choice to do so. No doubt Google is best search engine in the world but study by DuckDuckGo revealed that if we provide a better choice to people then they will prefer other search engines over Google.
DuckDuckGo also revealed that Android smartphone has a search preference menu that allows users to choose their own default search engine. When users have the better choice they can forget Google. Most of android users prefer Opera over Google.
This study was conducted to discover which search engine people would prefer to choose if its available with DuckDuckGo’s proposed search preference menu.
This study also revealed that DuckDuckGo can increase their collective mobile market share by 300%-800%. According to study people are preferring DuckDuckgo over Google on mobile search. If it happens in real life, DuckDuckGo overall mobile search market share can increase by 10% and it is shocking.
According to DuckDuckGo in the present era many smartphone users don’t know that they can switch their default search engine according to their choice instead of searching Google all the time. The company also described that android users who know how to change their default search engine also face same problems.
“…those who do attempt to change their Android search defaults face obstacles like hard-to-change homescreen search widgets. Google’s pervasiveness in search is difficult to dissipate; the company has many levers that exert magnetic forces, pulling people into its search engine.”
It seems that DuckDuckGo future is bright.
